Gemma Lionello has served as the executive vice president and general merchandise manager of the accessories and beauty divisions since 2016. While she was an executive vice president, she assumed the role of general merchandise manager for beauty in 2013 and in September 2016, she was given the additional responsibility of leading the accessories division. She and her team are responsible for all buying operations for accessories, jewelry, watches, handbags, home and beauty – including fragrance, skin care, color and all Spa Nordstrom locations. Gemma has led several strategic initiatives including expanding the company’s natural beauty offerings and bringing in many new and limited distribution brands. She also supported the launch of a new beauty shopping experience developed to encourage customers to shop on their own terms – introducing Beauty Stylists, The Beauty Concierge, a Mini-Must Haves section and more. Gemma joined the company in 1988 as a counter manager in the beauty department of the Nordstrom Valley Fair store in San Jose, CA. Following that, Gemma served as beauty department manager for a number of stores. She went on to hold various positions in the company including buyer, store manager and VP regional manager.
