Vish Sankaran is Walgreens Boots Alliance chief innovation officer, a senior management position established to help lead, coordinate, and advance WBA’s innovation strategies across its business operations, digital transformation, and enterprise, and enhance WBA’s long-term vision, growth, and value to its many stakeholders and stockholders.

Mr. Sankaran’s responsibilities focus on working with Operations leadership to explore, analyze, design, and launch new business solutions and capabilities, and spearheading WBA’s overall innovation agenda. As WBA’s strategic implementation leader, he also manages the business impact of new solutions the company has adopted and will carry out. In addition, he provides counsel to senior leaders to deliver the company’s overall strategy and investment priorities.

A longtime practitioner in using business operations, talent, and technology to build shareholder and public value, Mr. Sankaran is a veteran healthcare business and technology executive. His comprehensive experience includes 24 years in the private sector and the U.S. federal government working to transform healthcare by making consumer and clinical outcomes central to patient care-related conversations. He came to WBA from Ayus Health Inc., a health strategy and product development firm, which he founded and for which he last served as managing director. Prior to Ayus Health, he was chief operating officer and chief technology officer for CareMore, an Anthem company. During his 10 years with the U.S. federal government, he helped lead its healthcare business and technology transformation, including his time as senior advisor to the administrator of the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid during which he worked to create efficiencies in its business operations and IT investments.
